BTW with luxcore it is a good thing to work at object real world scale. It is going to save you lot of headaches

I would try a mix with rough glass, maybe driven by a texture for the mix amount.

This is a good idea most of the time, not only with LuxCore. It ensures correct light falloff behaviour, makes it easier to re-use assets in different scenes, and makes adjusting stuff like bump height or photon radius less of a trial-and-error process.
