Re: Two clear volumes in face contact

But you didn't specify Pmma1 and Pmma2 external volumes IOR which is 1 by default. Light rays will go thru 1 IOR interface after exiting Pmma1 then 1.492 interface (thin middle layer) then 1 interface again before entering Pmma2 then finally 1.492 interface. Lot of back reflections in it and that's ...

Re: Two clear volumes in face contact

Hi, The distortion and magnification while watching through that lens should be the same with two bodies as it is with a single one (not exactly, because of translation due to higher thickness). I don't really think so. IMO there will be visible fracture lines when you try to piece back two pieces d...

Re: Two clear volumes in face contact

P.S. IMO refraction and reflection occurs between "two bodies" and the "intermediate surface" as you didn't indicate the IOR of the "two bodies" exterior volume and it's assumed to be 1 which differ from the 1.492 IOR of your "intermediate surface". They canno...

Re: Glass Object Ray Tracing Problem

What you are seeing is a classic case of "SDS" caustics (spcular-diffuse-specular), which are inherently difficult to render. With a laser light, even impossible. The homogeneous volume scattering is diffuse. Glass is specular, and both entering and exiting the cube are counted as spearat...

Glass Object Ray Tracing Problem

Hi, I am having problems rendering both Transmission and Reflection simultaneously in Glass materials. It is either only one or the other. Here is the setup: Green Area Lights pointing perpendicularly to the Glass Object from some distance and so was the viewing direction and expect maximum reflecti...

Re: Laser and Volume Scatter

Thanks again! Got it fully working now. It needed another External Volume Shader Node for the Plane Object beneath the Glass Cube Object. 8-)

Re: Laser and Volume Scatter

P.S. there is also some other factor related to what a BiDir or Path can or can not render but that should be your problem. Thanks Dade. I got the laser beam refraction and reflection through glass almost working now by hiding the Glass Object from Camera. There's still something strange however an...
