Blender plugin export settings only

I've noticed with a big scene (250meg blend file) the amount of memory used goes to a whopping 6gb while the model being processed, this amount seems to grow if you stop and start a lot (memory leak maybe?)
Could you not have an option not to re build models? Renderman has this and Thea Render
I'm messing about with render settings, I've not touched the model for some time
