Cycles(X) vs Luxcore Test Benchs

Now that Blender 3.0 is officially supported by Luxcore
I decide to make some render test comparison between
the two engine. Would Like to add Mitsuba 2 or even 0.6
to the test but couldn't find any possibility to get a precompiled
version. And also website download page is broken.
If someone know how to build Mitsuba 2 I will be glad to include it.
The scene is kept simple for the start and more production like
project will be added as test progress

Here are the result:
The Bench_low.jpg
Here is the file : you need Blender 3.0 and lastest blendluxcore to run it :
small test cycles vs Luxcore.zip

System infos

All brute force and Gi test are done on a Mobile GTX960M.
The bidir render is done with i5-7300HQ CPU

This Scene is Highly Indirect light dependent like most interior
archviz project. And Lux Photon Gi is By far the fastest can be
said 20X faster without exageration compared to Cycles X brute force.
Bidir CPU metro also look fast and pretty close to Cycles GPU. Could
have been maybe much faster on GPU if supported. BTW I don't understand
Why Lux path tracer sttruggle so much compared to cycles both being
unindirectional.

Very good Sharlybg, in the file photon gi is disabled, it would be nice to be enabled by default, so downloading the file and rendering will have the same result as you had. Without even knowing how to configure luxcore.

There is a kind of problem I want to be fixed on before that.
Look the difference in Performance between the Photon Gi
And Brute force Actually the brute force performance
Is a long long way behind Brute force in cyclesX.

That mean the less your scene will rely on Indirect lighting and
diffuse surfaces the worst your performance with luxcore will be.
In interior scene you do have most often large reflective floor that reduce
Photon Gi boost. For me it is not too much trouble as I do lot of Archviz.
But we do have multiple kind of users working on other field.

Aside from that In our field most work rely on brute force:

1__ Product Visualistaion & Car renders
2__ Jewellery render
3__ Exterior render and large scale Vegetation
4__ Character renders
5__ Fx work smoke / Fog / Cloud /SSS skin / hair
6__ Viewport Performances

So all that field will rely on your brute force efficiency. And should be said that improving this
Brute force engine will benefit also to the Gi cache scenario.
I will soon post a more Production like project so everyone can see what i'm pointing out.

I understand that you want to make a video with all the problems solved, but Luxcore is already very good the way it is, if you make a video making it very clear that it's for archviz internal scenes I think it's valid, Luxcore needs more people using it and more supporters. There are almost no channels dedicated exclusively to him, yours is practically the only one, so I think it's worth making the video.

After Few days of work the Big Bench Test scene is ready.
Compatible Cycles(X) and Luxcore (2.61) all on Blender 3.0
With the famous Geometry node in the box.

I have to say that I was extremelly suprise by the bench result  .
The video will be release very soon.

THe scene in the viewport may look not like it is heavy but this is actually
a 119M interior exterior Project.
