How to remove noise from dark scenes?

Hello, I am new to luxcore and I wanted to render out caustics.

So I followed this tutorial, I switched my engine "Bidir", I used 250 samples which got me 9 minutes on my ryzen 7 3700, but I am having trouble with noise in dark areas of my scene. I have tried turning on 'denoiser' in the render properties and the denoise node in the compositor but its still pretty noisy.

Any help is appreciated :)

My bad! here you go. My scene is basically a plane with pbr texture, and an invisible sphere being deformed to create the caustics. I also forgot to mention the tutorial also asked me to switch to 'metropolis'.

You don't need Bidir i think.
just enable light tracing : https://youtu.be/UVattTf1a5Q?t=756

Thanks, I that think did the trick. My render keeps crashing whenever I try using GPU, but I think that has something to do with my amd gpu.
