The crystals in the image here are close to or even exceed the critical mass.
Not sure, what would be more frightening meltdown or a metallic based species subsisting on hard radiation and reproducing in spherical eggs which are connected to its parent via feeding umbilical cord.

However, all this would not have happen if I was able to use Material 'amorphous_carbon'.
But the Material is missing or wrongly spelled.
This error appears in Info:

Buzzing Swarm of Amorphous Carbon Spheres
Speaker and screens repeated the urgent alarm everywhere in the abandon outpost on a planet close to next repeater station of an older inter-systems full throttle way located just a few dozen light years from sun. The machine started soon to produce a big swarm of amorphous carbon Spheres which decelerates neutrons and separates uranium crystals and divides them into smaller, well to be carbon insulated parts.
