Can you share render time too?Sharlybg wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 11:47 pm I made a scene with complexe indirect light visibility. bounce level for every path
is set to 64. Engine tested Cycles 2.93 CyclesX 3.0 Luxcore 2.6. Luxcore just use
Cycles settings for the single Area light and all shaders. With default light auto translation
Luxcore look darker compared to cycles/X. So i double the light intensity in another test
to check if it isn't luxcore missing indirect light. Also made a GI cache render.
All on GPU 2060 super no clamping.

Re: Giga Benchmark battle : Luxcore Redshift CyclesX ECycles Vray Corona
I’m not saying that any new feature has to be created to “break” the render to gain speed, what I meant is if RR could be configured to deliver a worse result but way faster, so I mean leveraging what’s already present and maintaining the concept of LuxCore
However if some concepts are revisited with more modern technology, no doubt it will be a big improvement, the question is how much effort is required to revisit the foundation of the engine? Is it modular enough to change something that basic without having to do a massive rewrite?
Any modernization will be welcome or course

Re: Giga Benchmark battle : Luxcore Redshift CyclesX ECycles Vray Corona
It might be worth it to configure RR for faster samples/sec because it would lead to cleaner Albedo/Normals AOVs which could help the denoiser.
Re: Giga Benchmark battle : Luxcore Redshift CyclesX ECycles Vray Corona
In This case would the render output be cleaner less noisier without denoiser applied compare to the current default RR settings ?
I mean in Dade example the sample/sec look faster but looking a the number of rays/samples look terribly slow. I mean is there a big
difference between slow RR and Fast RR visually. I mean without denoiser.
Re: Giga Benchmark battle : Luxcore Redshift CyclesX ECycles Vray Corona
Yes, my suggestion was along those lines, assuming that may be a difference in speed and quality, but for some situations maybe speed is required more than quality, so good question.
And the point made by BYOB is good too, better AOV's will produce better denoise.

one more light transport tests.
The light has to travel for 6 light bounces before reaching the sphere.
Attached you find the scene.
LuxCore bidir 24 bounces 60 seconds.
Maxwell ???bounces 60 seconds.

I cannot do this tests with other engines, maysome else can try using the files i shared.
Re: Giga Benchmark battle : Luxcore Redshift CyclesX ECycles Vray Corona
Just tried with cycles and Luxcore path tracer it almost impossible to see somthing.
Only luxore path/Bidir + metropolis and Luxcore GI cache is able to see in the Dark
All run for 30scs on laptop cpu
Bidir Luxcore GI cache + metro Luxcore path+metro
Luxcore path sobol Cycles
Like in my previous test cycles seem to catch more light even on pure path.
sure Gi cache on luxcore close the battle but wonder why it is like that on path only mode.

Re: Giga Benchmark battle : Luxcore Redshift CyclesX ECycles Vray Corona
The first test was simply a meandering tunnel with some small windows on it showing the light travel.

Hi Charles, if you give some color to the emitters you can also verify if the other engines loose light colour during travel, like maxwell.
