Re: highlight compression
That's true. any auto option is not suitable for animation.

Re: highlight compression
Yes, very well put.
Now, could this "auto" be optionally "locked"?

Re: highlight compression
HI, we truly need highlight compression in the image pipeline. How can me help to implement it as soon as possible? We do not scare to write some code. Has anyone done any research on what algorithm is best suited?
Re: highlight compression
With the introduction of OpenColorIO v2.0 support I doubt you have to write any code, you just have to look for the right profile for you (Filmc profile has some kind of highlight compression and I assume ACES profiles too): viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3446 ("New OpenColorIO tone mapper" section)
Re: highlight compression
ohh! thanks i take a look!
Re: highlight compression
I went through the OCIO documentation but i haven't been able to find anything related to highlight compression.
Re: highlight compression
It is just part of the tone mapping process, for instance Filmic profile has "compresses the gamut for high intensity values": https://sobotka.github.io/filmic-blender/
Filmic is just an OpenColorIO configuration (https://github.com/sobotka/filmic-blender) and it can be used with LuxCore.
ACES has this kind of stuff too: https://acescolorspace.com
Re: highlight compression
May I ask a question - for usual 3d artist - is it ok to use Lux with Filmic in Blender? Or Lux require something more specific/standard in ColorSpace configurations ?Dade wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 9:06 am Filmic is just an OpenColorIO configuration (https://github.com/sobotka/filmic-blender) and it can be used with LuxCore.

Re: highlight compression
BlendLuxCore has not yet been updated so I assume there will be many part of Blender Filmic support that will have not effect or will not work.DionXein wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 6:20 pmMay I ask a question - for usual 3d artist - is it ok to use Lux with Filmic in Blender? Re: highlight compression
You can use filmic with the BlendLuxCore addon since forever. Just use Blender's color management settings.
