What was the drive to add baking functionality now?

A request from one of the current major project donors. It has also been requested by several people in the past.

Note: it is a feature planned for v2.4, it may be available before as incomplete/undocumented feature but I expect to see the full support for Blender in v2.4.

I have something that I think looks ok for 2.81 and would like to create a version for you in 2.79 but unfortunately I can't get the installation to work. (Error message attached)

I may have misunderstood the request for 2.80 (not 2.81). Sorry
So just in case, I have reinstalled 2.80( from Blender archives) and converted the file.
