How to solve Caustic Cache bright spot

Post by Sharlybg »

Hi !

I am renderingg this interior scene project and like often in medium/large project I have difficulty to use the caustic cache.
I don't know wich parameter to set to stop bright photon spot to appear everywhere like in the render bellow :

Do you have light tracing (aka hybrid rendering) enabled ?

Here is LightTracing OFF

Here is LightTracing ON

So I suppose enabling Light tracing in case like that is the solution.
BTW is there any case where enabling Light tracing could fail resolving
the bright photton spot ?
Because I remenber having case like that.
I show you in a moment.

Thanks a lot for the help Dade.

Light tracing should be always used to render normal caustics. Light tracing+Caustic cache should be used to render normal caustics+SDS paths.

Using Caustic cache to render both normal caustics and SDS paths requires often very high photon count and periodic cache update (i.e. long rendering times)

The reflection on the glass table of caustics on the wall (aka SDS paths) may still show some splotch. It is hard to say in your render because it is too small. If you have that kind of problem, enable the periodic caustic cache update (and, may be, increase the photon count).

Thanks Dade for the very clear input. In fact it work very well as you explain.
It only in Large project (a bove 500m2) that it become hard.
