Re: LuxCoreRender Wallpaper

Post by B.Y.O.B. »

Hi,

I made a somewhat darker version of the scene.
.blend for Blender 2.80 and latest BlendLuxCore daily build attached.
I switched from Bidir+Metropolis to PathOCL+Lighttracing+Sobol, which works really well in this scene.

It is a REALLY beautiful image, BYOB. Clean and inspiring.
Well done! ;)

I just would like to know why are there so many tons of purple in it. They are not there in the previous versions.

It's the fill light, visible in the reflections.

With proper SDS paths rendered this looks really cool.

But it is somewhat slow, SDS-cache shows strong fireflies that take very long to disappear.
(crop from raw output after 15 000 samples).

Indeed! I hope the issues can be resolved and one day we have this scene in full glory :D

I think the new UV-baking property will be perfect for this.
When direct caustics by light tracing can be captured on texture, a render with ray depth 1 for diffuse and 8 or 12 specular will do SDS paths in short time, even with camera animation.

Glad to see you back on the forum btw. :D

B.Y.O.B. wrote: Sun May 06, 2018 9:25 pm Since the scene in the first post is really outdated (back then BlendLuxCore did not even have tonemapping  ) I took the time to update it.
In the zip: .blend, .bcf and an example render.
I only rendered for 3 hours this time and applied no postpro at all.
Maybe someone with a more powerful machine can make a more noise-free render so we can put the bundle to the example scenes?
And if someone comes up with better lighting, colors or something else, feel free to post it.
Should this blend scene still work correctly with BlendLuxCore 2.4 and Blender 2.83? I can't seem to get anything out of it but a black image.

I think it's only the light brigthness that's off. Should get fixed if you use the "convert to 2.3" button in LuxCore tools panel.
