I don't think this is necessary, we just have to keep the current behaviour (no downloads without interactions with the LoL panel).
Users who don't want to use it just have to ignore the LoL panel.

Thanks for the Info. I did not know these details.
The luxcore library doesn't use cuda or rendering at all. There should be no difference between cpu or cuda. What is do you use? Can you start blender from command line and post the error log if there is any?
I never did so. Is there anywhere a tutorial on how to get the error-log?
As said, i assume it was due to interrupted Internet Connections.

The download is done in a background thread. So it should not block or crash blender. You can start blender in a console window or open the terminal window inside blender to copy the error log.

IMO it would be best for LOL and BlendLuxCore to be separated addons. Especially because of development/bugfixing/issues sake.
