Strange black zones

Post by stefdln »

Hey everyone
I'm posting here because I'm having a hard time understanding why I do get black spots on this draft render as shown on the attached screenshot.
Any clue someone ?
I'm running Pathtracer + Sobol, total number of bounces 18, diff 6 gloss 6 spec 6
Thanks in advance
Cheers

Without the scene I can only guess that you might have smooth shading enabled without autosmooth?
Enable autosmooth in the mesh settings or add an edge split modifier.

Thanks for the input guys, I will post an update asap, maybe this has to do with the geometry I imported which is an obj file, anyhow playing with the smoothing settings did not improve the result in any kind of way.

Smooth Shading issues.
Either set to it to Flat, lower Normal Angle or add supporting Edge cuts/loops to the mesh.

Lowered the normal angle and everything's fine now, thanks to all of you guys and sorry for the non-Lux related issue
