Some questions...

Post by Magog »

Hi Guys!
I noticed with pleasure that with every new update, Luxcore becomes more and more interesting.
Today I took a pre-set scene, imported and adapted for Lux.
Unfortunately I realized that the manual is not yet complete, so I left many options by default, without knowing what I was doing. Unfortunately.
How is it possible that after almost 1.30 h the image is so dirty and the denoise so stained?
Definitely the fault of my non-knowledge of the engine.
In fact in the last scene I have increased a lot some settings ..
Moreover, in the info display it shows me the presence of 23953 light!
How is it possible?
There is only one standard material and 5 total lights!

I hope someone can help me above all to learn about the settings (through links to forum discussions) in order to be able to understand and take familiarity with Lux.

Your scene probably contains highpoly meshlights.
Each triangle of a meshlight is treated as a separate light source.
If possible, you should try to replace them with a single light source (point, spot or area).

The noise in your scene seems to stem exclusively from indirect light of the small hidden light sources in the wall lamps.
Can you upload the scene?

can follow these steps : You must remove current lighting setup
. Tone mapp linear 1 / auto disable

. Sky + sun (make sure they are not linked for easy tune) instead of HDRi (Most of the time HDRi requiert more computational power)

. Use shader Albedo below 0.8

. with sun power >>> 0.0001 / sky 0.0002 you can use a clamp value of 10.

. (pathocl) Sobol + Log power : diffuse ray 6/ glossy ray 6/ specular ray 12 / max ray 12

. Denoiser settings :

Try theses one :

HDT >>>> 0.7

SW >>>>> 8

Scales >>> 4

PR >>>>>> 1

. Switch to Path Ocl and adaptive sampling to 0.95

. Switch to Filmic

Perfect, now everything is clear.
I hid the portal lights on stage (I think that for LuxCore they do not have the same features as in Cycles), activated sun + sky. Now it's much better.

I will try to do some tests with the HDRI.

Spectacular result with HDRI lighting.
Is it normal to have a value of 35 for the HDRI?

The times for me are still too high to have an almost clear and clean image....

35 what ? wich part of the HDRi setting did you set to 35.

Edit

OK i see gain = 35. it is not a problem hdri quality and EV are very variable parameter so you can increase them to match the rest of your lighting setup.

what kind of gpu for rendering ?
render resolution ?

you don't need to use portals object luxcore do smartly for you: under world panel

I have a gtx1080.
Resolution 2100 x 1900 px.
I have noticed, however, that it does not use the 100% GPU during the calculation.
Thank you for your support!!!
As I written yesterday, if there was a manual to study the parameters I would avoid going to trial.

Tnx again!
