Render Settings OpenCL / BiDir

Post by GeorgeP »

Just hoping someone can help me come up with a good workflow for using Luxcore, the tutorials and wiki seem quite out of date. I am just trying to figure out the best/fastest settings for a simple chrome balls in a room with one sun lamp type scene. I tried with OpenCL and Path and after about an hour and 25,000 samples it was still quite far from resolving the caustics.

I'm trying now with BiDir and Metropolis and it's doing its thing but I'm getting about 197k samples/sec as opposed to my 3.5M or so with the GPU/CPU with Path tracing (GTX 960). Will BiDir ever be GPU accelerated or is it mathematically not suited to GPU processing?

On another note, about network rendering, we have a few machines here in the house is it possible to have them all work on a single frame at once (ie: different tiles, although Luxcore doesn't seem tile based but progressive)

Here you go : modified file : https://drive.google.com/open?id=1GxSxM ... HLAKeRzNcK

1/ i've change your tonemap setting linear (=1) auto off

2/ sun power reduced to .0001

3/ sky to .002

4/ clamp value = 10

the concept is to work with small sun power ( SUN is the most powerfull light source in luxcore) value so you can use little clamping number.
