"Diffuse Amount" map

I just downloaded a model from TurboSquid that was made for 3ds Max. I'm using it in Luxcorerender and it is looking good.

However, it has a "diffuse amount" map included. What should I do with this? Where would it plug in? I'm not even really sure what it is supposed to do. Google hasn't been much help.

It sounds like a factor to use in game engines, etc. Lux has true indirect light so you should probably ignore it.
