If you add displacement to it it will be more complicated and interesting.

Add displacement to surface or volume?

add displacement to the surface, the volume will apply to the whole mesh after displacement. the process is different in Arnold, but in LuxCore is that.

Oh, I get it, yes, ofc more interesting mesh would give more attraction to result :D

But it is really hard to get as solid as Arnold will reach especially in the thin edges.

Technique was developed/pionired by Lee Griggs few years before it hyped & was popularized.

I think that's a different technique called Xgen topology. What I used is volumetric displacement.
Just checked video you posted & well, @ ~ 1:15 he specifically notes it.
Either way, I did test "how to" w/ LuxCore back in the days and came up with an "unsurpassable" issue so I didn't pursue it further.

I know the technique in the video I've done a few great renders with it, it is called Xgen, it's different from volumetric displacement. you can not achieve the same result using these two technique.
If you search the artist name you will find both Volumetric displacement/Mesh and Xgen from the same artist but they are not the same technique.

The basic idea is to get complex shapes as much as possible as not to lose the concept.
Like this one I made called "Root".

You can download a larger render on my website https://3dfine.com or my Instagram https://www.instagram.com/omid.ghotbi/ to see more details.

Try to make more complex setup for volume shader.
