Luxrender crashes when loading .lxs

I'm using FreeCAD and I've downloaded luxrender but whenever I try and open a file, it opens and then disappears.
I have tried linking luxrender to freeCAD and opening through there but the same problem happens, it opens and instantly closes.
Am I doing something wrong?
