Some doubts...

hi guys!
I have some questions doubts and perplexities about version 2.1.
Why do I have 3 options in the Render Layer:
-Combined
-Denoised
-Deaful Lightgroup
while I need a single image with correct lights (LG) and denonise added.. ?
Only the denoise is very flat as an image, many details are lost, but surely this depends on the settings.
Combined is wrong.
At last... The denoise does not work once the calculation is finished. It does not make sense.

You're right, the default lightgroup is useless when there is only one lightgroup.
It was already on my todo list to remove it in this special case.

Having denoiser result and original image available is useful in my opinion, because you can better compare them, or apply only part of the denoised result to the original image (via compositor or other postpro means).
It is also better because if I write the denoised result into the "Combined" pass, many people will wonder why their rendered image is no longer updated (because the denoiser is only run on-demand).

You have to render more samples to make the denoised result better.

How exactly?

I would like to have this feature as well, but it would require some advanced restructuring of the code.
Maybe we can find the time for it in the future, or someone steps up to improve it.

Have you tried to use a lower value for "histogram threshold" parameter as explained in "BCD Denoiser parameters" section at viewtopic.php?f=9&t=335 ?

But, as B.Y.O.B. wrote, having more samples will help (a lot) too.

P.S. are you using BiDir ?

Tnx for your answare B.Y.O.B.!!

Sorry but the lightgroup for me is the best result among the 3, because I wanted and I set that kind of light.
That's why I wrote that the Combined is wrong.

I will try other test with more samples and denoise, tnx so much for your availability!!

@Dade : no, I'm sorry but I don't use BiDir..
I must?
My time is always short, I do these tests in the few spare time

Combined is usually the baseline, the ground truth output.
Maybe you have set the default lightgroup color or temperature, which makes Combined/Denoised output yellowish?
Can't think of anything else.

No, no, just asking because BiDir can require some specific setting to avoid too much "blurriness" out of the denoiser result.

There is only one lamp on the table, very low as a value at 4100 K, the other lights are at 6500/7000 k.

Take care that color temperature (k) is not light intensity.
And that lamp may be not part of the default lightgroup which has sky.

Hi Fiat!
Of course, I know the difference between value K and intensity of light.
As I wrote , the value of intensity light are low.
I used only Hdri. No sun & sky.
