Re: Denoise trouble
You should post the noisy output along with the denoised result.

Re: Denoise trouble
That's just a screenshot so we can only assume how the un-denoised, final rendering looks like. But i guess it will not be much cleaner with this one being almost done. Try to get more samples in and find some way to reduce noise.
You can also manually copy the OIDN 1.3 files. It's supposed to be better. Take a look here ... viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3153

Re: Denoise trouble
This is a nice example for a side-by-side comparison (your test scene from the initial post). And as you can see, the denoiser works pretty well.
Re: Denoise trouble
When the input is so noisy, the denoiser just can't work miracles.
You should try first to reduce the noise further. Try the render settings helper button in the top of the render properties, it will lead you step-by-step to good settings for your scene.
If the noise level is still too high with those settings, you will just have to render more samples.
Re: Denoise trouble
I think I should definitely do a tutorial on Noise free render and efficient rendering. In reality noise most of the time come from our input and Luxcore have the tools to avoid this pitfall.
For example in this scene it is clear that the ceilling lamp is configured in a way that create lot of useless noise.
___ Maybe the emissive part of the lamp have to much geometry
solution : reduce emissive part of the mesh to simpe plane
___ Or light is passing through a highly specular surface (glass)
Solution : Enable your specular material to have a white shadow color
solution : Enable light tracing for more detail in light
___ Or extremelly high clamping value
Solution just use the suggested value and adapt it to your scene.

Re: Denoise trouble
I think it will be really interesting to see.
occasionally I use luxcore for daily work or personal one and the main issue I got is the noise, particularly for the direct light.
I've tried to use clamping but the lighting contrast become easily a big problem.

YEP, now i figured out, than for LuxCore needed many many sumples, no less then 1000
attached render 2000 samples
attached render 2000 samples

Yes, thx, i come frome Cycles, there 500 samples enough for good picture, here it is not enough, need 2000 samples i tried laterB.Y.O.B. wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 7:48 pmWhen the input is so noisy, the denoiser just can't work miracles.

Note also that samples are not comparable between cycles and Luxcore. The only thing that matter is noise level at a given rendertime.Yes, thx, i come frome Cycles, there 500 samples enough for good picture, here it is not enough, need 2000 samples i tried later
