2D Mapping affecting bump map?

Post by AndreasResch »

Can it be that the 2D mapping nodes affect the image brightness somehow? Here you can see two planes with the same bump map applied. The only difference is, that the left one is 4x larger. The 2D Mapping nodes just equalize the size of the bump map.

I'm not sure if it's a coincidence, but the 4x larger object needs about a 4x higher bump value to be at the same level than the smaller mesh.

Maybe it's more than a coincidence that the bump height is linked to the size multiplier.

Take a look at those planes. The two on the left are 16x larger than the right one. The numbers stand for the "Value" in the bump node. As you can see, the upper left plane that is 16x larger than the right one, needs a 16x larger Bump Value to match the result.
