Did you use the daily built?
Did you read what it says?
See the sentence starting with "Custom Normals will not work ...."

Re: Custom Normals do not work in render
how did you assign the custom normals?
I am currently working with them for my lens addon. I have noticed that in Blender, when you create an object such as a cylinder (with 90 degree corners), select an edge and ecxecute "split normals", it will not produce the correct split normal directions. For the cylinder specifically, this means that the side is shaded round.
Maybe this is (part of) the issue for you here?
For my lenses, I am now creating fully analytically determined custom normals.

I am doing through Data Transfer.
The strange thing is that everything works in the preview.
Doesn't work only on render.

Re: Custom Normals do not work in render
Curious!
Custom Normals created in a scene with Luxcore 2.5 enabled do not work in Luxcore 2.4.
If you enable version 2.4, and redo Custom Normals, then they start working.
How is it? ))
Well, okay, it works. Custom Normals technology is a huge step forward. Oh, how long I have been waiting for her.
