Pointiness/Band

Post by Racleborg »

Hi

Am I connecting these up correctly (attached) in order to use the Pointiness to mix colours or materials.

It works fine in A but not in B.

I understand that I'm connecting a colour output to a value input, and that this can be done in Cycles but not in Lux. But I can't work out another way to achieve the correct result.
Thanks

I think I just got lucky as this appears to work. Is it ok to do it like this? (attached)

No, you can connect color to value and vice versa in Lux, that's ok.

Not sure why you added the HSV node in the last image.

Depending on what you want (only mix colors or mix different materials) you can choose your specific setup.
But you can get the same visual results from color or material mixing.

BYOB

I'm not sure either. I think it was a case of diving in enthusiastically after a long day at work and then getting in a ravel!

Thank you for your help
