Can't Get LuxCoreRender to work with Blender MacOSX

Post by Glendaloch »

Attached are 3 screenshots which I hope illustrates my problem. Using Mac 10.13.6 and Blender 2.82.
Am trying to switch from LuxRender and the previous version of Blender....without much success.
Really don't understand the appearance of LuxCore, no application icon and using terminal to fire up (?)
I have searched the documentation and spent a few hours on this double checking everything...must be doing something terribly wrong.

Are you trying to install v2.2 on Blender v2.82 ? I think it is not compatible and you have to use: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1805

Uh, in your screenshot, it says even v2.1. It very old, just download and install v2.3beta2.

Okay, Thanks!
–Will do tomorrow!
BTW, I just used what was on the main download page…which also said:
“Note: only old v2.1 is available for MacOS”
Anyway, thanks again.

Yes, there isn't a v2.2 available for MacOS because we didn't have a MacOS maintainer at the time it was released.

v2.3beta2 doesn't work.
When I click the box to activate in Blender preferences, the program crashes.
Maybe v1 would work with Blender 2.8, using 2.82 here now –could replace with older version?

Luxcorerender hardly has an interface, don't understand (compared to Luxrender), but maybe will if I can get it to fire up.

I don't know the macOS situation in detail, but it seems like the binaries need to be signed for macOS to execute them, which they currently aren't.
Apparently you can run them if you disable "SIP" even in their current non-signed state.

BlendLuxCore v2.3beta1 works with Blender 2.81a on OSX 13.6 on my MacBook. Blender 2.82 does apparently not yet work and OSX 14 and later would need a notarized LuxCore which is not there yet.

Thanks for the reply!

I don't know anything about coding, did html 15 or 20 years, but am pretty ignorant in this area.

Nowadays just want to do my work, modeling art rendering etc....much harder than it used to be...the whole system is against one between unwanted options, upgrades, and privacy invasions. Apple has gone to hell, each new OS worse than the previous, getting closer each day to the Ipad which is basically Apple controls user slave while mining and selling vast amounts of personal information....digital has just become so uncool which is a very sad day.

Sorry for the rant, but really don't know how we ever got here....
