Installation on windows

Post by StuartU »

Hello all. I am new to Lux and am having some difficulty installing this engine and could use some assistance.

In all the references about installing the render engine I am under the impression that there is an installer file available via the download page. In the few videos that are available it has a regular windows install file that brings up a basic install box, but I don't see that here at all.

I have downloaded all of the available files for my windows 64 bit machine but I am either missing the installer or I am not using it correctly which is a distinct possibility.

I have unzipped both the 2.1 and 2.2 versions and tried to run both of the .exe's contained within but, on one I get a network setup page, and the other a terminal in which I can't type commands(even if I knew them).

I use Daz3d and have gotten the plugin (luxus) that uses Luxrender but it wants me to direct it to the installed program folder, which I of course do not have. It rejects the unzipped folder of the downloaded zip as there is no luxrender exe.

kind of a noob here I know, but any help would be appreciated. I can't wait to test this out on my 40 core linux server but that's a battle for another day.

Not sure but I suspect this is not an installer for the main program.

I assume Luxus was written for the old LuxRender v1.6 (not LuxCoreRender v2.x) so it is better if you download and try to use the last v1.x release: https://wiki.luxcorerender.org/Previous_Version
