CIE 171:2006

Post by lighting_freak »

Hi,

Does anyone know about this CIE 171:2006?
It's a report that handles "Test cases to assess the accuracy of lighting computer programs".

Do you know how luxcorerender will fit into this?
Thanks.

Yes, that's why I was hoping that someone knows about its content already.

Hi,

I bought the document, but I think I'm not allowed to share it. It mentions a range of test cases that should compare the calculated/simulated results with some analytical and measured values.
Within the next days I'll gonna try to run through each of the tests with luxcorerender...

Are you interested in sharing the results?

Sure, post the results and if they don't match, we can (probably) fix the problem.

Hi,

I've just finished my first attempt for the first (out of 12 or more) test cases.
If my process is correct, there seems to be a serious issue with working with IES files.
Please have a look into the attached documentation and the corresponding blend files.
I'm happy for every oppinion and every feedback.
190506_CIE_TC4.1.zip
included are blend files, one IES file and the report.

Thank you.

Look like there is an error here 2.1 cm instead of 2.1mm radius :

Hello all,

thanks for first notification.
Unfortunatly its only a typo in the report and the blender setting is right. It should be 2,1cm.

Never the less the main critical point is the calculation using an IES file...
As soon as we've found a way to perform this calculations correctly, I can run a loop with the "real" given photometry, which is almost an isometric point, but not perfectly...

Hi,

This is belonging report for Nvidia's iray:
Validation of NVIDIA's Iray against CIE 171_20160217.zip
iray report
(2.58 MiB) Downloaded 162 times
Wouldn't it be nice to place an information like in this commercial raytracer on luxcorerender webpage?
https://www.optis-world.com/Showcase/Ne ... nation-CIE

I guess this will attract lot of users, especially from professional point of view.
But I really need some help from your side...
Do you think handling the cases like I did is suitable.
Does the described process seem right to you?
It's the report quality enough to follow each step?

Hello,

I am also highly interested in this side project. Currently I am trying to utilise LuxCore to simulate an optical floating zone furnace for crystal growth. Testing LuxCore against CIE171:2006 is a great idea and, in my opinion, worth the effort.

So far, I had a look at the source code of the IES-Importer. Everything looks good there. Next step would be to find out, how the candela values are further processed. Maybe I have some time within the next days to crawl through the repository to get some new input.

Best regards,
MS
