Hi my friends.
I've been struggling 2 hours trying to get the caustics in this scene with a pool following the latest Dravia's tutorial and nothing, no satisfactory result. I don't know what's happening in this scene.
Please could you dowload it and tell me what am I doing wrong with it?
It would be awesome if you could help me with it.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Problems for getting the caustics in a pool
The scene suffer multiple issues :
1__ Specular depht shoud be higher for such kind of render as shown in the tutorial. here it is 6 you need at least 12 or higher.
2__ you need caustic only inside the pool not eleswhere so all the large surfaces outside with material set to photon GI yes will eat all the photton you throw into the project so i disabled the when not usefull.
3__ I just increase photton radius a bit to see something
4__ You have some overlapping poly inside the pool
5__ You better start with a simple lighting and when everything is good get Lightgroup in the mix ( will make thing much clear for you to improve)

Re: Problems for getting the caustics in a pool
Thank you very much.
I'm gonna start from your scene copying the rest of elements of this (which is more complex) scene into yours and downloading with Blender2.92.
My goal is to create this one at night.
My client asked me some recessed lights inside the pool and one led stipe around the inner perimeter of the pool.
And I have to launch some renders at night and at daytime.
Uff, we will see...crossed fingers because I'm running out of time.
Perhaps I had to ask you more things.
Thank you very much for bring back my scene fixed.

Re: Problems for getting the caustics in a pool
I have tried to adapt your parameters to my scene and this is what I got in night time.
I'm not sure whether these are caustics...
Still in progress but I don't know what else to do with the lights in order to get caustics.
The idea is to achieve an awesome water.
Best regards.

Re: Problems for getting the caustics in a pool
You have a quite peculiar setup there: the light sources are under water. Tomorrow, I will check the scene you posted, is it the one shown in your renderings ?
Re: Problems for getting the caustics in a pool
Mmmm, it is not exactly because it's for a client and I didn't want to share it in public but I could send it to you via WeTransfer in private. Some email to contact you?
Thank you in advance

Re: Problems for getting the caustics in a pool
And this is a day time render changing the lightgroup configuration...
I can't distinguish whether they are caustics...Are them?
Is it possible that the OIDN denoiser blurred the caustics?
It's the first time I do that so I'm not an expert.

Re: Problems for getting the caustics in a pool
It looks a bit blurred, you can use the Caustic AOV to isolate and check the caustic output alone.
Keep in mind that caustics are the result of a direct, intense and sharp light source and they are typically more visible indoor. So both your day and night renderings may simple lack the conditions for visible/dramatic caustics.

Re: Problems for getting the caustics in a pool
Hello.
But this example is not indoor and it's illuminated thanks to a HDRi light source.
The only difference respect mine is the height of the doors in which is contained the water and the pool.
Thanks for your comment.

This is a capture of the caustic pass...As you can see there are no caustic created:
