Re: CGI tech news box
Ok, so I got it, and it's the denoiser from Declan Russel just made into addon. I don't know what to think about that... Also, the results from deepdenoiser look far better still. It does simplify my workflow with luxcore a lot though since it's now just a single button in uv/image editor to get nic...

obviously ,i don't know much about this but If I knew how, I'd be willing to spend free time training the denoiser for luxcore.

Re: Direct Light Sampling Cache errors
If I add sun to hdri the issue appears again  Yes, like I said, it is a MIS problem: if you set max path depth to 1 (in .cfg file), it works fine, if set to 2 (MIS enabled), it doesn't. It happens because some cache entry, near a shadow boundary, has 2 entries (sun+sky) others has sky only (su...

Re: Direct Light Sampling Cache errors
here, isolated issue (it seems like sky reflection is the problem)
hdri works normally, sky and sun works only if sky is not visible for glossy rays
If I add sun to hdri the issue appears again

Re: Direct Light Sampling Cache errors
So I did few quick tests on the scene provided in this thread, I don't get the issue when I use HDRI, I don't get the issue when use sky and disable sun and I don't get the issue with sun&sky if I disable glossy visibility for the sun! EDIT: nope.. disabling sun glossy didn't fix it.. But at one...

Re: Direct Light Sampling Cache errors
btw, visibility map off makes the issue less visible too. But also visibility map is somehow changing the lighting.

Re: Direct Light Sampling Cache errors
I give up, I looked in this problem for days. It is related to MIS and Glossy direct light sampling Vs Glossy directly light hitting PDFs but I haven't found anything wrong inside the code. I will list it as a known problem: https://github.com/LuxCoreRender/LuxCore/issues/158 is this only sky/env l...

Re: it was better before
I'm speaking in a relative way as you can see i mention Arion render / Maxwell / Indigo and theses one seem to behave in this kind of super accuracy light transport and shading. you can really see they are different in that level but they are not Renderer from the past. In the contrary some other r...

Re: it was better before
On every one good spectral render you can find 10 just as good or better from rgb renderer https://corona-renderer.com/gallery there is no secret ingredient. It's colors and tonemapping, and luxcore could definitely do a bit better here too. But hey, there will be a spectral build of cycles so maybe...
