Re: Want to have a diffuse air inside a room and clear air outside
just realised you uploaded a blend-file already yesterday, so I had a look at it. The way you set it up doesn't seem to me like something that should work, in any case it's quite strange. I have to say I don't feel like an expert in volume stuff yet, but here are my thoughts: - First, "unsettin...

Re: Mirror artefacts
Floating point number precision is not linear or uniform, for instance, it is a lot higher in some range than others. The distance between 2 consecutive values also keep increasing farther you are from the 0.0 and they exhibits many other strange/counter intuitive behaviors when compared to true re...

Re: Mirror artefacts
ok thanks, that makes sense and moving stuff around changes things. It seems to me that it is more of a relative issue though. When I shift the mirror to x=100, I can still get the pattern, although the camera has to be much further away (>10000, compared to 150 previously). In this case, your min.-...

Re: Want to have a diffuse air inside a room and clear air outside
Hi and happy new year to you too ;) The recommendation that is often given here is to create a cube (or similar) that encloses your room, and give that cube a null material + homogeneous internal volume. external volume = world volume = clear. You then have to be careful to get material priorities r...

Mirror artefacts
While setting up some scene, I came across a strange behaviour with a mirror and Sky-background. Looking somewhat perpendicular at a mirror gives me the following type of artefact: test.jpg Blend file attached, consisting of a clean setup of only a mirror and camera, the rest is left pretty much def...

Re: Laci's wip
Uuh nice, might put it in my optics lab setup for fun
But really, I want that chair. I'm at my parents place for christmas, and right now I'm sitting on one of the most rancid old office chairs ever

- I want that rug! - (I don't want to know what animals were killed for it.) - Trying to roll back with the chair on that rug might lead to: - toppling chair with person seated - person grabbing table frantically - toppling table - crashing iMac  - me want to see animation of the whole mess ...

Understanding Volume Absorption/Scattering Colors
I have a bit of a problem with the color settings in the volumes. While playing with it, I have come across some behaviour I find odd. Question #1: Simple test setup consisting of: - a Laser, white - homogenous world volume (- and a camera) Initial setup: absorption and scattering colors white (RGB ...

Re: Realistic simulation of camera and laser
The node is just to change the scattering asymmetry. Close to value 1 looks darker (forward scattering). Value 0 looks more white like candle wax (isotropic scattering), not very transparent no detailed shapes. I meant the Mapping Nodes themselves, particularly the "3D-mapping node". Unde...

Re: Realistic simulation of camera and laser
Would you be willing to post the blend file of this one? I'd very much like to see how you set up all your materials etc. to achieve this effect. Yes I can, was asking for permission first since I took that lens design from a project. Since it is not a very complicated or special design, there was ...
