TAO wrote: Fri Feb 04, 2022 6:08 pm One question is there OCIO config files are embed in luxcore render or should be copied separately?

You installed the .zip from Blender Preferences, you get no error and you don't see BlenderLuxCore inside list of addons after ?

Re: flat shading when using homogeneous volume

I made the material completely transparent and noticed that Volume shows flat shading. Is this the right behavior? Yes, the geometry is faceted so the definition of the volume inside is faceted too. it looks weird. Yes, but there is nothing you can do but subdividing the surface more. Normal interp...

Re: Some general questions about the terminology

The scope is a bit larger than only render settings, for instance Cycles "default" is to have glass always with shadow transparency, glossy material is filtered and clamp reflected light sources, etc.

Re: LuxCoreRender daily/automatic builds

Actually, LuxCore has always worked with Blender v3.0 on Linux, it was a Windows-only problem. I have downloaded the latest build and tried with Blender v3.0 on my Linux Ubuntu and it is working fine for me.

What kind of problem do you have ? A crash ? Is Blender v2.93+BlendLuxCore working ?

Re: Some general questions about the terminology

If I set the "Glossiness Threshold" to 1 does that mean LuxCore would use the "Light Tracing" method for the entire scene tracing all the rays in the scene starting from the light sources instead of the camera? "Glossiness Threshold" affects only Glossy and Glossy-like...

Re: Some general questions about the terminology

I suspect there are other core diferences that help LuxCore achieve a higher level of realism. Even in scenes without caustics and volumetric scattering the overall illumination and/or the way colored metals are reproduced (for example) are significantly more realistic. There is something in the al...

You could try to compile from sources but it may be complicate if you have no experience with compiling tools. Isn't the same service available with Windows ?

Re: LuxCoreRender daily/automatic builds

The next, under compilation, build should work fine with Blender v3.0. The source of the problem is a broken NumPy version used to compile Blender. We have a workaround for that problem but it required to rollback a patch for a minor bug. It should effect only people exporting scene in text format f...
