The offset parameter is there to avoid that problem: looking at your nodes, I assume you should use an offset of -0.7 (half way between 0.4 and 1.0). Or you can adjust your Remap targets as SlowHand wrote.

Thanks, it looks good, this fix may also have some unexpected implication like fixing the light tracing brightness variation on animations has been reported few times: light tracing is normalized by the total count of photons traced and if the total is wrong, the total brightness will be wrong too. ...
