Re: Render look different from viewport to render
Here's a mix: Metal + Glossy w/ Glossy Coating (scratches) over... like Metallic Carpaint. However, there's indeed a very slight difference between GPU vs CPU, but unnoticeable to untrained eye ;) Done w/ latest 2.6 daily using NVidia's GTX 1070. CarpaintMetallic.jpg CPU render (notice difference in...

Re: Noise threshold, no clue what's happening
The thing is that in Blender we cannot put more than 255 I think. @Theverat should know better I imagine. P.S.: Yep, I just confirmed, in Blender the maximum value is 255, we cannot configure higher values. P.S.2.: To Theverat (BYOB) I just changed the maximum limit of Noise Threshold from "ma...

Re: Beach scene
Thanks for comments. Am well aware of "mistakes"... so just to note, an example took merely a couple of clicks (~10min): 0. Read post & Save image 1. Auto correct w/ Irfan 2. Masking in GIMP a. pumping up blues b. warming & desaturrating greens Export. Upload & write a post. 8-...

Re: Texture caching... amazing improvement in memory with Cycles, could be great in LuxCore!
Here's CPU for the win & it makes more sense considering hybrid approach. Anyways, why I still prefer CPU engines is because I find those more stable, predictive, maneuverable, easier to handle, faster & effortless to deliver bigger projects... = more dough, better ROI Also, after baking get...

Re: Depth of Field
Along different apps using different units, what engines do under the hood is basically developer's choice and you'll have to ask them specifically about paths they took. Also note you'll have it a bit hard to go in depths with Arnold and might be better to focus on open source engines. At least con...

Same principle applies, you still have options to set either PhySky or IBL.
