This scene was inspired by a "20 megabyte" challenge in which the entire packed .blend file for a scene is supposed to stay under 20 megabytes (maybe that was self explanatory). While the version of the scene I used for these two renders is closer to a gigabyte, the final scene for the cha...

Re: LuxCoreRender v2.3beta2 released
You can actually tell this is the case. If you try to run LuxCoreRender on Windows Vista it runs just fine, with no problems. If you try to launch Luxrender 1.6 on Windows Vista it shows a "getactive processorcount kernel32.dll" error. The newer feature is supported in Windows Server 2008 ...

Good Node Setup for Fruit SSS?
Good evening, all. I was wondering if anyone has a go-to setup for making an SSS shader for fruits and plants. I have tried using a glossy translucent shader, however the result usually just ends up having slightly more muted colors than a normal glossy shader. Capture.PNG This is what I am currentl...

Re: Old forum old luxrender
I was also interested in this, as I recently re-downloaded Luxrender 1.6 / 1.7 to do one final render with, and to see how much the signature "look" that Luxrender achieved has changed. I'm sure the old forums contained a lot of invaluable insight into user problems with the engine. It is ...

Re: Comparison Between Lux and Cycles
Just use normal maps, Substance and other programs export them automatically, most texture download sites offer them, CrazyBump can generate them easily from an input color image.

Re: Comparison Between Lux and Cycles
Don't think it is fair to compare luxcore to cycles with 128 path deph for cycles and just 10 max for lux. if you want good comparison try to simulate exactly same setting for each renderer : Cameera/light / engine. I've found that with the default 8 bounce Cycles settings there is virtually no GI.

Impressed with Interior Denoising
I decided to model a 'complex' indoor scene to test the abilities of OIDN when it comes to more complex edge situations. This scene contains 1.5 million triangles, but more importantly, over 20 million hair particles on the carpet, cussions, and grass outside the window. You'll notice that all (to m...

Comparison Between Lux and Cycles
I was interested today after downloading the latest beta of Blender 2.8, and thought I might try comparing it to Luxcore. I modeled a very simple 'Cornell Box,' just to test the performance in a slightly difficult lighting scenario, and the results were a bit interesting, especially when it comes to...

Re: Node setup for substance textures
Here is how I use Substance Painter textures with Luxrender.
I don't use height textures, but I assume you could mix the height and normal maps somehow in Luxrender.- Mon Sep 17, 2018 1:07 am

Still Life
I've done still life renders before with old Luxrender but I decided to try one again with Luxcorerender. All textures (except for the leaves) were made in substance painter. Rendered with 10,000 samples in 3.5 hours on Vega FE.
