Thanks for your feedback. The area you circled on the leather, is the caustics from the gemstones and ring. Yes, it seems so. Thank you for your answers. If anybody else runs into this issue, they can now find a reference here, that most apparently indeed something broke in CUDA/OPTIX Blender latest builds. I was relieved anyway to see that Luxcore 2.4 runs fine on Optix with Blender 2.93
