It might be worth it to configure RR for faster samples/sec because it would lead to cleaner Albedo/Normals AOVs which could help the denoiser.

You can use filmic with the BlendLuxCore addon since forever. Just use Blender's color management settings.

I don't really see an advantage that would have over opening a simple cube scene and pressing render to trigger the kernel compilation.

Pixel filtering was already used with OIDN. In the Blender addon, it was only disabled when using Bidir or Path + Light Tracing (because light traced caustics are not properly denoised by OIDN when they have pixel filtering). I added support in BlendLuxCore, in the denoiser settings in the render properties.

Some test images:
"old" = like 2.5, with albedo being NO_REFLECT_TRANSMIT and prefiltering off
"new" = albedo is REFLECT_TRANSMIT and prefiltering on

It sounds like you overwrote an old BlendLuxcore installation with a new one and something went wrong. Try to delete it completely and do a fresh reinstall.
