yup (alpha3) crashes even with an empty scene using any 4K+ HDRI from https://hdrihaven.com/
if first render finishes the second one crashes for sure
smaller sizes work fine

Hm, or maybe it disables direct light sampling, too? @Dade Will all Pixel Filters be added and exposed as they used to be? I had the feeling that the default (BLACKMANHARRIS) is already the best setting and you never want to change it. The only exception being the NONE filter, which improves speed ...

Aha, ok... how about this? Optimizations: Persistent Images option to keep images loaded on the device, saved time initializing next rendering. (r52030) Release notes: Blender 2.65 . & that's about all i could find for now ah, well i know nothing... just trying to help thanks for everything 8-)
