Dade please. This or portals.

Luxcore definitely needs either this to be working well or a standard "portal" solution
I consider now the work for v2.2 PhotonGI cache and Hybrid rendering done. This is the next (and last) topic for v2.2 (bug fixes aside).

Re: Transitioning from VRay to LuxCoreRender

Yes, radiance group scales are a image pipeline setting so you can different values for each image pipeline. You can get different images (i.e. day Vs. night, etc.) out of a single rendering.

Note: PhotonGI doesn't support radiance groups at the moment.

Dade told me it doesn't work because I didn't set a world volume, but when I do that (either the fog volume or a new clear volume) still I get no blue sky with PathOCL.
I should have fixed the bug.

Ok from how I understood this thread the following behaviour is at least intended with the current hybrid implementation, just want to double-check if its true?
Yes, it is a path tracing limit explained here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1187&start=80#p14162

Dade told me it doesn't work because I didn't set a world volume, but when I do that (either the fog volume or a new clear volume) still I get no blue sky with PathOCL. :? The correct result is the one with grey sky, not the one with clear one. The sky is very far and scattering will make it very h...

Re: Hybrid Back/Forward path tracing (aka BiDir without MIS)

Buuuut... we still don't have decent out of core functionality so I wouldn't be so sure. Larger exerior archviz (even interior) can easily go over any current gpu vram size. But good out of core and bigger future vrams could help here too. Out of core rendering works with AMD Vega as far as I know ...

Re: Transitioning from VRay to LuxCoreRender

ok, this picture explains why MIS is used in PATHOCL, but what you mentioned "merge direct light sampling and direct light hit of an eye path" looks like a different kind of MIS (which looks like connecting eye path + light path as in bi-directional path tracing)? I mean "direct light sampling" = "...
