Here's CPU for the win & it makes more sense considering hybrid approach. Anyways, why I still prefer CPU engines is because I find those more stable, predictive, maneuverable, easier to handle, faster & effortless to deliver bigger projects... = more dough, better ROI Also, after baking gets to Ble...

Along different apps using different units, what engines do under the hood is basically developer's choice and you'll have to ask them specifically about paths they took. Also note you'll have it a bit hard to go in depths with Arnold and might be better to focus on open source engines. At least con...

Same principle applies, you still have options to set either PhySky or IBL.
You can check it with RPR for Blender.

Indeed... it was "Smart IBL" in the old days

All major engines have this feature and can use different maps for lighting, refraction, reflection & background.
Maybe with OCL frozen this might become feesable

Haven't read the thread, but Blender's default setting for Color Management: View Transform is Filmic > if so, switch to Standard.
