Re: Swimming pool / Underwater / Caustics

Maybe it is a big mistake, but I looked into photongicache.cpp, and in the Preprocess() function, the value of params.visibility.lookUpRadius is different whether : - indirect + caustics caches are enabled, params.visibility.lookUpRadius = Max(params.indirect.lookUpRadius, params.caustic.lookUpRadiu...

Re: Swimming pool / Underwater / Caustics

Hi,

I played with LuxCore UI v2.2beta1 to use BIDIRVM render engine. I have the impression that it does not use a photon cache because it does not load the file as with PathCPU. Is it normal ?

Re: Swimming pool / Underwater / Caustics

Hello, I used the PhotonGI cache with B.Y.O.B. settings (radius 0.01) but increased the max number of photons to 100 million. In the terminal, the indicated number of traced photons was 16 million. In the top reflection on the water, we can see the caustics, but on the pool wall, the caustics are le...

Re: Swimming pool / Underwater / Caustics

You can use the scene for your example scenes if you like, with pleasure. The textures come from sketchuptextureclub.com, I don't know about their redistribution policy, the textures I took are free, and you have to register for download. I will download v2.2 beta to test PhotonGI, and post the resu...

Re: Swimming pool / Underwater / Caustics

Here is the .blend file, so simple.

You are right, the camera is under the water. I agree the green shall be total reflection, but on my reference photo the caustics are also reflected which makes the green brighter.

Swimming pool / Underwater / Caustics

Hello, Here is an image inspired by a holiday picture. I like it although I find the green in the water reflection at the top is too dark. However, this took a long time to render with Bidir (default parameters), are there tricks to speed up the rendering (2000*1500px image, 500 samples, 1h 40 min o...
