Re: Nvidia RTX A4000 for LuxCore

LuxCore won't benefit from the better double float performance or the special line rendering stuff that CAD software needs.
The ECC RAM will affect LuxCore as well, though (but it's hard to notice the difference).

Re: Volumetrics issues

In my opinion the problem is the lack of a feature: light sources currently have no "volume" property, so you can't tell them which volume they're in.

Re: Is Luxcore capable of rendering Fraunhofer diffraction?

LuxCore doesn't simulate light as waves, so it can't do any effects that depend on wave interactions. However, I'm not sure if the effect in your video is due to diffraction, it might be something else. For example, I've attached a file with an interesting shadow effect, might be a starting point fo...

Re: Haze

The problem with a foggy world volume is that it makes all light sources that are infinitely far away basically unusable. That means the sun, infinite lights like HDRI backgrounds, sky etc. If you want to have some light haze in the scene with a sun and sky overhead, you'll need to use a fog box mes...

Re: Haze

Yes. For example, you can surround the scene with a big box that has a null material with homogeneous interior volume. Use a very low scattering value, something like 0.001.
Remember to set the same volume as exterior volume of the camera, if the camera is inside the box.

Re: Texture Interpolation

In the latest daily builds, you can change the interpolation on image textures from "linear" to "nearest" for pixel art textures.

Re: Two well known luxcore problems.

Those are SDS caustics (specular-diffuse-specular). LuxCore has three ways of dealing with this problem: The archglass (architectural glass) material can be used, with the downside that it doesn't have refractions, only reflections. So it's only suited for thin glass sheets where refraction wouldn't...
