You can attach files directly to messages in this board, including .blend files.

The same with images, you don't need to use postimages.cc!

There was an Issue with ViewLayers that got fixed with v2.10.0-rc.1

I tested your example scene and it seems to work fine here.

Can you provide a (simple) test scene in the form of a .blend-file that produces a crash for you?
This is needed to determine if it is hardware specific, or due to some particular settings.
It will also help to understand what exactly you are trying to achieve as a resulting image.

I wonder whether it might be possible to turn luxcore into something that can be used for engineering purposes.

Comment on rough glass: This is overlapping with the point about new Microfacet BSDF. In fact, microfacet models might be applicable to multiple materials, or specific to some situation, based on the model. This will require further research into which model is to be implemented.
