Yes, they did, there are drain holes at the bottom directly below the oculus.

increase samples by surface or object?

Having some issues in scenes where small details are taking a while to smooth out noise. Is there a way that specific objects can be prioritised for sampling? Or should I trust the adaptive sampling? How can I know it is working well though? I'm paranoid that samples are being wasted on flat surface...

After trying blocking volumes, thickening the floor, setting face smoothing to flat.. in the end what resolved it was changing the wall geometry so that part of it did not intersect with the floor geometry. Intresting to know. Will avoid this in future.
