Candles and flames
Hi all, I am trying to set up a physically based candle on an environment. I have done this by creating and object, and applying a matte material. Then added an emission. When I add the lumen a candle is meant to emit (approx 12) I cannot see much effect on the environment. However if I blow up that...

Altering Sun Gain value - interior scene
Hi, I am working with some interior scenes, and have been working on setting up the renderer settings for a while. Now, I wanted to calibrate it with a real scenario. I chose to recreate my room in 3D and simulate the lighting coming through the window (real time vs. rendered). I realised the best r...

Re: Irradiance Contour
Thanks Dade, It does work, you are right, it just takes a lot of time. If I change the steps from 32 to say 128, does it mean I will get more of the contour lines? I mean at a shorter interval on the image? I am quite curious to understand which function is the one you used to obtain the scale as 17...

Irradiance Contour
Hello all, I have been looking into trying to visually represent lux measurements on a Luxcore render. I understand from Dade, that one way to do it is with false colour setting, and trying to match each colour to the real-world values using a photometer. I think this could work, but I would need to...

Re: Physically based light measurement
Open the render layer properties and enable the Irradiance AOV. Hello people, I wondered if someone can help me with the attached file, and check why are my Irradiance Contour Lines not working / rendering? Thank you so much. Re: Sun properties - Gain problem
Thanks people. So I did not have a camera. That might have been the issue. I placed one in scene, and now everything is black. I have been playing with the settings for a while and have not been able to fix the problem. Any idea?

Sun properties - Gain problem
Hi all, quick question, silly one. I have just not touched Blender for months and I am being slow in catching up. I set up a scene with a light Sun and Luxcore. When I set the Gain to 1 it appears over exposed, as comapred to it if I set it at 0.00001. It looks fine this way. I checked the scale of ...

Re: Lux measurement using Irradiance feature
Dade, why are writing that IES file doesn't include any absolute value? In LuxCore, the values you list are not used. The code is a direct port of old LuxRender code. The parsing of lumen per lamp filed is here: https://github.com/LuxCoreRender/LuxCore/blob/577aea723aa439ee94b2545ddee8cc206cf18430/...

Re: Bidir - Metropolis.
Hi, yes, in general a higher path depth is better, just your example of 800 is very excessive for almost all realistic scenarios. Let me give you some example numbers: First off, you can find an example of a situation requiring >100 describes in the follwing thread: https://forums.luxcorerender.org...
