Re: Total Path Depth / Specular only

Thanks, Dade. I think I've got it now.

Re: Total Path Depth / Specular only

Hey.

Thanks for the information. I was assuming something like that. What happens, if the values of the individual depths are different though. How is it decided, which one gets capped and by how much?

Here's an example ...
Diffuse: 4
Glossy: 8
Specular: 16
Total Depth: 20

Cheers,
Andreas

Total Path Depth / Specular only

Hello. I've got two quick questions. *) I'd appreciate if somebody could explain the raltionship between "Total Path Depth" and the singular depth values. Will it cap the values (Diffuse, Glossy, Specular) indivually or the total sum of them? Let's say my "Total Path Value" is 16 and my singular val...

Re: Devil's pool

For me the ambient light in the last one is too bright. It somehow defeats the purpose of the candles. It also casts a dictracting hard shadow on the bright skull. I liked the light in the previous version a bit better. But overall nice work so far.

Cheerio,
Andreas

Re: Network rendering on different OSes

Hey. That's a lot of questions. I guess the network part is basically fine. The Luxcore server and client are communicating after all. Firewall access was granted on both machines. They are on a home network and can access each others hard drives. I tried the Crowdrender addon for Blender recently, ...

Re: SSS Dragon

Hey. All the settings were loaded correctly except the settings for the Filmic color management. That one was set to sRGB. That's why the scene initially rendered too brightly on my machine.

Cheers for that nice scene,
Andreas

Re: SSS Dragon

If I just lower the Gain value, the image gets darker but is way too contrasty compared to the finished rendering at the top. It gets a little better if I set the Gamma value in den Color Management to 2.2, but it looks closest to the version above, when I activate the Filmic color management. Have ...

Re: SSS Dragon

Thanks for the scene - this is very useful. Especially now, where I was experimenting with SSS and found it a little hard to understand. One question. Initially my rendering was way too bright. I had my Color Management in Blender switched to sRGB. When I switched it to Filmic, I got about the same ...

Re: Network rendering on different OSes

Hey - thanks for the answer. Some updates. *) When i use the standalone version on both machines, it doesn't work at all. The server (Windows 7) won't connect to the client(Windows 10) at all. *) When I use the NetNode started via Blender on the client (Windows 10), the Net Console on the server (Wi...

Re: A little help with SSS

Yeah - I will fine-tune eventually. But at least I know which dials to turn to get the result I want. I don't mind to work in real scale and enter my values in metric values. My models are metric anyway. I just tried to add the material to my Asset Management addon and it works, this is great. I can...
