Re: Test scences GPU Path vs CPU BiDir

Yep, thought it was something like that. Double windows at night. of course. shiny upon shiny. Perfectly perpendicular to the specular floor and the specular reflectors and the very many emitter sources is a rendering task, to be sure! But is also a textbook recipe for "snow". Commonly acc...

Re: Network rendering on different OSes

hey, any progress? yea wireshark is technical, but from your posts I'm guessing you won't have any trouble picking up the basics quickly. Not sure it's necessary yet, but it is a great tool. And speaking of basics, I guess we should cover that too - avoid those D'oh! moments later on. Can the machin...

Re: Test scences GPU Path vs CPU BiDir

hey. love the floor. a little too "new" or "perfect" but your method of making it be more unique is definitely clever! So hey what are those glassy rectangles on the wall? 1-way mirrors to spy on the girls in yoga class? the world's shiniest blackboards? outside windows but with ...

Re: Network rendering on different OSes

Huh.There's no solution replies on that thread. Sharlybg giving up seems unlikely, wonder if linux was installed and windoes abandoned? :D RuntimeError: unsupported version Could it be something that simple? In linux, if you invoke 'python' you may get 2.7-ish, and need to invoke with 'python3' to g...

Re: A little help with SSS

Hi. Hey! I like it. That plasticky / soft stone feel makes it looked carved and looks great. A little stronger/shallower scattering and little less specular and you've got a soap carving, too. Like Sharlybg said, I wasn't sure what you were after, just wanted to show you scattering and obstruction i...

Re: A little help with SSS

Hi. So yea your scale is a bit drastic, that's what the problem is... material scaling is orders of magnitude off. At the current scene scale, try the volume absorption depth at 2µm, not 2cm, and try setting the scattering scale to 1200, not 12. This example is 50µm absorption and 1800 scattering on...

Re: (rant/ramble) 3D Grandpa - everything is new and scary!

not that a rant should turn into an actual thread but I kind of remember, and that shit is/was funny! lol, so no one ever got ahold of octane source to prove it was lux and he was just another (sadly all too common) open source guy who wanted to change the license to get paid for "all his"...

(rant/ramble) 3D Grandpa - everything is new and scary!

I used to be very into rendering and 3d work, used to be a paying gig for me. But as the years roll on, you don't always get to do what you want... So I have been out of 3d in general, and blender/lux/et al for many years. blender used to have a cult following; if you came from maya or 3dsmax, Ton's...

Re: clGetDeviceIDs query fails badly

Oi. Damn. Never even occurred to me. Thanks... I will do just that. Off to install and render something, anything! over the long American holiday weekend. :D PS: I pulled source and am setting up a dev environment to play, and I noticed the end of the LinuxCompile / README states: "If you have ...

clGetDeviceIDs query fails badly

Hey Lux'ers. An old renderer getting back into 3D! Funny how the universe works. If this warrants a bugtracker entry and isn't a simple fix for just me, I apologize. It seems like such a small thing to file a bug report for... Anyway, can't use the BlendLuxCore v2.0 package. Won't work at all. Fails...
