Re: crash after about 4 minutes of rendering

Indeed the processors where very busy. CPU and GPU both at nearly 100%. I changed the device in LuxCore config from OpenCL to CPU: - the CPU worked at nearly 100%, but the GPU only at about 10%. And ... - the rendering finished successfully after 5 hours ! So perhaps I have to think about a new cool...

crash after about 4 minutes of rendering

I get an crash after about 4 minutes of rendering with Blender 2.79b and Luxcore 2.1 I use a panoramic camera with 1920x1080 resolution for my scene of a biological experiment where fish is sitting in the center of a sphere, which serves as an optical stimulus for the fish. 1. When I render with 50%...

Re: Show light intensity of laser beams more precisely

Writing that down makes me thinking that this approach is too complicated... sorry. Yes, I think too, that is to complicated. At least for my capabilities and capacities. But no problem, nice idea, thanks. Fortunately the guys behind lux have done the most of that coding (calculating the angles, li...

Re: Show light intensity of laser beams more precisely

You should work in some HDR format (like .exr) Yes, thanks that works. However, the color ramp node probably does not output HDR. Thanks, the problem with the color ramp was only the overexposure, so I had to adjust the shutter time of the camera. The result looks fine for me: LidR up 45° cross sec...

Re: Show light intensity of laser beams more precisely

I need irradiance for the BiDir engine. If you use Blender and the new BlendLuxCore addon, you can just enable the contour lines plugin in the imagepipeline settings and start the render (it even works in viewport render).... it is a bit hard to find the right values for the different parameters of ...

Re: Show light intensity of laser beams more precisely

My proposal was a completly automatic process of generation of beams and labels ... That is interesting. How could I get that done automatically? whats the used media in your first beam intersection (100% to 14% reflection and 86% refraction) The interface was water to air (IOR=1.333, IOR=1.000). I...

Re: Show light intensity of laser beams more precisely

creating tiny tubes following Basic optical equations ... Thank you for your suggestion, lighting_freak. But that will not work for me. The geometry is done very well by LuxCoreRender for the calculation of angles of refraction and reflection. (see my picture above which is the result of LuxCoreRen...

Re: Show light intensity of laser beams more precisely

Second best would be a visualization of the light intensity by colours. ... You are somewhat describing the result of the contour lines image pipeline plugin: http://www.luxrender.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=11440 It may be a solution to your problem. That seems very, very interesting. It see...

Re: Show light intensity of laser beams more precisely

Volume scattering will eventually scatter the light in laser beam toward the camera and will make the laser light, inside the volume, visible. This will however affect (uniformly) the amount of light transported by the laser beams. Yes, for my pictures (see above) I currently use a world volume wit...

Show light intensity of laser beams more precisely

I use LuxCoreRender 2.0 a lot to visualize light paths: I send a laser beam through the setup of an experiment and track with the Bidir engine which path the laser beam takes. This works very well for all reflections and refractions. The light intensity of the different parts of the ligth path are c...
