Re: Giga Benchmark battle : Luxcore Redshift CyclesX ECycles Vray Corona

First we should determine the pros/cons of these settings and if the difference is noticeable and what are their effects.

Cluttering the addon for no reason don’t make sense and it would be more work for BYOB for nothing :)

However I agree that investigating this it’s worth the effort :)

Re: Giga Benchmark battle : Luxcore Redshift CyclesX ECycles Vray Corona

Yes, my suggestion was along those lines, assuming that may be a difference in speed and quality, but for some situations maybe speed is required more than quality, so good question.

And the point made by BYOB is good too, better AOV's will produce better denoise.

Re: Giga Benchmark battle : Luxcore Redshift CyclesX ECycles Vray Corona

I’m not saying that any new feature has to be created to “break” the render to gain speed, what I meant is if RR could be configured to deliver a worse result but way faster, so I mean leveraging what’s already present and maintaining the concept of LuxCore :) However if some concepts are revisited ...

Re: Giga Benchmark battle : Luxcore Redshift CyclesX ECycles Vray Corona

Mmm this opens an interesting conversation. There are situations where some settings may be preferred, although with a more biased / worse result, but faster, could be interesting to have a "draft" configuration, or some of these settings exposed as advanced. The idea of the RR settings, Dade you sa...

Re: Giga Benchmark battle : Luxcore Redshift CyclesX ECycles Vray Corona

There are many details, E-Cycle vs Cycles is clear that loose a lot of quality, that's what E-Cycles is basically based on. Now regarding Lux for example you can see how there is a lot more light being computed, its a brighter image. I've been talking with BlenderBrit about this and how there are fu...

Re: Giga Benchmark battle : Luxcore Redshift CyclesX ECycles Vray Corona

BlenderBrit sorry but you usage of LuxCore is basically wrong. You leave light tracing on, which will slow the render a lot, but you disable it on Corona, you don't use PGI, when it's a basic feature that you MUST use for any kind of interior, but you use it on Corona. [CORRECTION] Even when in the ...

Super cool!

I’ll test it ASAP, having the transmissible option is awesome :)

Re: New OIDN 1.4 with new features and better detail preservation

I’ve been looking at the API here:

https://github.com/OpenImageDenoise/oid ... readme.pdf

I mean the CleanAUX filter parameter.

Re: New OIDN 1.4 with new features and better detail preservation

No, I mean the mode where it considers the Albedo as noise clean but without prefiltering. AFAIK 1.4 has three nodes: - As before - Prefiltering Albedo - Consider Albedo as prefiltered (noise free) but without prefiltering it. In situations with fine detail like this one, but where you don’t have no...

Re: New OIDN 1.4 with new features and better detail preservation

Without any doubt the filtered image is way better. A good test could be to have lit and shadow zones, with a sun, also inside an interior. Have you tested with the albedo being considered like perfectly clean? I think that should improve the result too, specially in complex scenes where the cloth p...
