Re: Cycle X (and OpenCL)

There are several variables that come into play when we talk about human time. - Viewport performance: yes, this is a super important one, and we have to limitations right now that seem to be very hard to overcome, GPU support, while we have it the update time is so big that it’s not worth it, and e...

Re: Cycle X (and OpenCL)

If you are answering me, yes, the problem is human time, not actual render time, I absolutely LOVE LuxCore final render times, the quality is astonishing and the render times are also astonishing, it's more a human time problem, something that right now it's hard to overcome I think. Maybe in the fu...

Re: Cycle X (and OpenCL)

It will always loose in quality to LuxCore, no doubt, MNEE is not a proper technique for general caustics, LuxCore is waaaaaaaaaay ahead of it, it's an improvement for cycles, no doubt, but it's no where near Lux right now :) Regarding general quality, I agree,m LuxCore is ahead of cycles in quality...

Re: blender 3.0 and USD

Will see, Tangent was doing that development, together with Nvidia, and it was in good shape, so it may reach Blender rather sooner than later, also it's something being spoken actively :) Awesome, that means that if Blender properly supports Hydra LuxCore may be used following that route? That may ...

Re: Two well known luxcore problems.

First things first, If in Cycles Multiscatter GGX leads to Blackness with 1.0 IOR then it should be reported as a BUG AFAIK, so if you can please do it :) Second, I think elevating the current Disney material implementation to the 2015 version could be a first great step, this would ease the interpr...

Re: blender 3.0 and USD

Dade I think this is a more complex topic. When USD is mentioned I think it's more related to the simplicity of working with USD and a Hydra delegate. Could be a good idea to think in turning LuxCore into a Hydra delegate, this would remove all the limitations currently present regarding Scene sync,...

Re: Giga Benchmark battle : Luxcore Redshift CyclesX ECycles Vray Corona

First we should determine the pros/cons of these settings and if the difference is noticeable and what are their effects.

Cluttering the addon for no reason don’t make sense and it would be more work for BYOB for nothing :)

However I agree that investigating this it’s worth the effort :)

Re: Giga Benchmark battle : Luxcore Redshift CyclesX ECycles Vray Corona

Yes, my suggestion was along those lines, assuming that may be a difference in speed and quality, but for some situations maybe speed is required more than quality, so good question.

And the point made by BYOB is good too, better AOV's will produce better denoise.

Re: Giga Benchmark battle : Luxcore Redshift CyclesX ECycles Vray Corona

I’m not saying that any new feature has to be created to “break” the render to gain speed, what I meant is if RR could be configured to deliver a worse result but way faster, so I mean leveraging what’s already present and maintaining the concept of LuxCore :) However if some concepts are revisited ...
