:D Changed the theme colors a little. Aquamarine font color, black title bar changed to bluish gray, tripled the corner rounding.

It's pretty old Xeon e5-2600 v4. The GTX 970 is around 6 times faster.

Border render with 130 000 samples - BiDir SDS-paths done by camera rays finding the area lights without light rays. I wonder if Corona-style guided path tracing could improve this? border.jpg I think the prism is colliding little with bottom floor :roll: I got this scene to render pretty clean wit...

Ah ok so I need to set the mirror to the proper ext. volume, thanks for that tip! I used one of the files provided above (derived from "cold fusion" by SharlyBG), so those may contain this error too! There are several files in the cold fusion thread. The one that a played with, also had extra light...

I tweak the materials to get some light behind mirrors, room walls were 0 0 0 black, perhaps not so good. And mirror reflection was 1 1 1, this i take down. Not sure what is good value for bidirvm.lightpath.count, i test with 1024, the first render had 131072.

:D BiDirVM and random, it's too noisy for 6 hour render. Multi scattering is off. BCD denoiser fell appart after denoising 1,4 hours, so it's the raw render.

The prism scene has some very tight light beams coming from corners and some partial sub reflections / refractions, but it looks pretty okay with BiDirVM.

In theory, the beams would become visible if you use a homogeneous volume for the interior of the prism. However, I could not get them to show even with that - I suspect that these are SDS paths (specular-diffuse-specular) which Bidir is unable to render. I got them visible, but it's gonna take day...

I may have had related issue in Luxcore ui.

As with:

Code: Select all

scene.lights.<light source name>.visibilitymapcache.visibility.radius = 0.0
The radius was auto set to 0.14

Now when i do manual value like 0.014
The scene does not load up.
