Support for more IES variations

Hi,

I'm trying to set up a virtual automotive lighting head light testing environment. The idea is to have a road scene that shows the quality of low beam/driving beam/etc. light distribution.

I'm in early beginning of this project, but I'm already struggling with the usage of IES lights.

My main problem is that lux render allows z-axis pole IES files. In my world y-axis pole is very common. It allows higher details around the horizon area, which is my main interest.

Do you think the support of those IES types could be integrated?

Thanks for answering.

Hi,

It seems that no one wants to answer.
I'm quite sure that with a little work lux core could have the best IES integration that exists in rendering market. Even professional products struggle with the usage of the different orientations in IES.

Yes, it should be a good feature to have.

Let see what will come.

It sure would be nice, and great advantage for archvis compared to other engines. But i don't know how hard or how long it would take... probably it's not a walk in the park. At least that was my understanding from reading about it on appleseed's discord.
